Boots and bubbly?

Having seen Willa's results on this blog analyzer test, I had to try it.  At first I was surprised:

ESFP - The Performers

The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

I have been an INTP/INFP (see sidebar) since the first time I ever took a Myers-Briggs, when I was about nineteen. So I have little doubt that whatever and INTP/INFP is, I really am one.  But the sentence below (which the INTP in me badly wants to correct for spelling) seems to hold a clue:

Note: writing style on a blog may have little or nothing to do with a person´s self-percieved personality.
When I started thinking about the disparity between my self-perceived personality and my blogging style, I realized that it made sense.  I am wary of being in my head too much. I also think that what's going on in my head is often way too open-ended and esoteric, and sometimes way too emotional, for a public consumption. (See last post.)  So I wait until I have some thoughts that seem acceptable, and then blog them.
And as with Willa, the last two letters (FP) are probably correct enough.
But I have two concerns:
I thought I stopped this split personality business in high school.
and
What's with the boots and the bubbly???

While I was at it, I tried the blog gender analyzer that I saw in Cindy's sidebar earlier this week.  At least my blog shows that I am a woman--though just barely. Guess I haven't posted enough on cooking, crafts or children lately.
Which brings me to another question:  Just how do these things work?
Ah, now that's an INTP question.  How very reassuring!

I couldn't bear to leave the mispelling so I did correct it on mine : ). Yes, those graphics are a bit anime... or something.

Oh, how fun!! I can't wait to do this for my blog. It said that my blog was written by a woman (70%) and the personality one will be so interesting. I find it fascinating to know different people's personalities and how that affects the way we relate and think. I am an INFJ.

My blog is the same as yours!

I couldn't wait to try this out! I am an INFP, the idealist. I guess you might say that....Thanks, Laura. This was fun.
BTW, somehow, from what I've read on your blog, the bubbly and boots just don't seem to fit! However, this did...
"The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells."

You know what Laura, I just don't take those tests. I guess I don't need a test to tell me "who I am" and then again, it might be because I hate tests -- even eye tests.

I smiled when I came here this morning and saw the creche from the Met, right? Oh I wish I could see it in real life one day.

Willa,

That's a pretty interesting discussion going on in the comment box on your blog. In fact, I think it's worth considering whether some people appear more extraverted and sensing on their blogs just because they have time to recharge in between posts, or because it's a way for them to purposely choose to emphasize the day to day. At least, that's probably the case with me. And I gather you purposely use your school blog for organization, so that makes sense for you, too.

Laurel,
I think *lots* of people are coming out ESFP. Maybe that's what we think makes for good blog reading? Or maybe, as I commented to Willa, this analysis program is just very, very beta!

Just for fun, yesterday I plugged in a sampling of different kinds of blogs, including some for people who post their types on their sidebar. I purposely tried to analyze many different kinds. The only INFP blog I found was Jewels', if you know that one. Lots came out ESFP, and very few matched my impression of the person.

But I have to laugh--isn't that such an INTP thing to do?!

Silvana,
Well, that must explain part of why I like your blog--we're the same type! Thanks for your kind, very INFP words. It's true that I like those things, though I'm not so sure about the entertaining part ;-).

Jody,
I just have to smile, because that's what my husband said, too, until I found a list of professions for his type, and his branch of law was at the top of the list! He is an INTJ, the most skeptical type. So I'm just wondering if you might be, too...

But I understand your point, and I wouldn't take these things terribly seriously, either. I just think they're fun.

And I'd be only too happy to take you to see that creche! Meanwhile, I dream of seeing the rolling hills on your ranch. Do we have complementary lives or what?
