Do the next thing

In absence of the time or ability to say anything else for perhaps another month, I will simply post a talk from Elisabeth Elliot that explains how I feel right now, how I am coping with what is frankly an enormous job, filled with uncertainty. Perhaps you've heard this talk before. But if you haven't, it's quite worth the read, because everyone gets to this point at some time.

I hope your summer is going well. If I have time to post again before we move, I will. If you want to pray for something for us, pray that we'll have faith in God's presence, and extra understanding for one another. And pray for visas.

I'll be back eventually. And there will be some sort of blogging when it seems doable. Arrivederci!

Laura,
Heard this talk loooong ago when EE was still on the radio and that phrase has buoyed me many times when the tasks have seemed unending and overwhelming. Just "do the next thing." Praying that you will plug away, resting in His grace and confident in His good purposes for you and your family... and praying for visas - a little necessity when you're making an international move! I will look forward to more posts when life allows! God bless in this season of transition.

Thank you, Laura,
This is very meaningful to me right now, too. God bless you in all the work of moving.

The article was excellent, Laura. I think I'll print out the poem and put it at my desk as a reminder. Certainly, when considering all that Elizabeth was facing, my challenges look rather small. (foreman to 40 Indians swinging machetes..)
Looking forward to hearing from you when the dust settles!

I liked this so well, I just put a link to it at my blog. This is such a good mantra to have: Do the next thing.

Thanks, Laura. You know I'm praying for you.
